i have a maxtor onetouch4 750gb wihich has pretty much died. First problem was when it didn't show up on the laptop when plugged in, not even any mention in the device manager.
I took the drive out of the casing and tried to install it to the main pc, still no joy.
Currently its in the freezer as i've heard an old wives about freezing hd's can sometimes bring em back to life.. lol
Bottom line is, its goosed, how do I get the missus's photos of it? Anyone know anything about data recovery?
If it can mount, you can get the data of it, I do it all the time for customers, the software i use is ontech data recovery.
I bet i could get your data back, If all fails you could send it to me and id recover it for you. Even if you format the drive ill be able to recover most of it, if not all
Sometime you can get Windows to do a CHKDSK on the drive on boot even if its not mounting, you need to put it as a schedule on boot. If not the HDD Doctor can take a look at it for nothing or £620 even if they get 1 file from it haha
